The Winnebago County Forest Preserve District (WCFPD) held a planning meeting Feb. 21 at district headquarters about possible restoration to repair the damage done by the clear-cutting pictured above at Roland Olson Forest Preserve on Atwood Road. Saying the meeting was “very tense,” local residents say they are still at odds with WCFPD staff over woodlands versus prairie at the preserve. As to redress or future meetings concerning clear-cutting at Pecatoncia River or Fuller forest preserves, WCFPD staff were non-committal.
