The play The Diary of Anne Frank will be presented the first two weekends in March in the Paddock Room at Hickory Grove,1127 N. Seventh St. in the Comfort Inn complex in Rochelle.
Performance dates are March 2-4 and 9-10. Tickets for the show are $10 and can be ordered in advance by calling the Vince Carney Community Theater ticket line at (815) 764-2287 or by visiting the website, vcctrochelle.org.
The Diary of Anne Frank is based on the diary the teen-ager kept while hidden in a secret room in an Amsterdam warehouse in WW II. Anne and her family were Jewish, and for over two years, the Frank family and the Van Daan family stayed in hiding to avoid capture by the Nazis. The diary and play describe the day-to-day living conditions and the activities the group could do. Through it, Anne displayed a remarkable optimism, considering the horrors of war and the constant fear they would be caught.
Curtain times are 8 p.m. for the Friday and Saturday shows March 2-3 and 9-10. In addition, there will be a 3 p.m. show Sunday, March 4, and Saturday, March 10.
