Find Your Space: Discover Margaret Fuller and true happiness
By Gale Ketteler

Who was Margaret Fuller? Come discover what was left out of the history books at this live event honoring the mother of our women’s movement.
Womanspace presents Men, Women & Margaret Fuller, a one-woman play written and performed by New York City actress Laurie James Wednesday, March 28, at Rockford College. The public is encouraged to attend this Women’s History Month benefit for Womanspace with tickets at www.womanspace-rockford.org and the Box Office at Rockford College.
Lost in a shipwreck in 1850 at age 40, Margaret Fuller was the “smart one,” according to classmate Oliver Wendell Holmes. A true world celebrity, her groundbreaking book, Woman in the Nineteenth Century, influenced thousands, including Susan B. Anthony, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry David Thoreau. In Summer on the Lakes, in 1843, she chronicled her pioneering trip around the Great Lakes, plus here to northern Illinois and the Rock River. This event is sponsored by David Boccignone-Ameriprise Financial, Keeling-Puri Peace Plaza, Rockford College, and Rockford Register Star.
