Mayor Morrissey delivers State of the City Address March 15 at Coronado

Staff Report

Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey (I) will deliver his Seventh Annual State of the City Address at 6 p.m., March 15, at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, 314 N. Main St. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s State of the City Address will focus on “Our City, Our Story, Our Time.” Telling Rockford’s story means recognizing that we as a community can hold within our own hands the ability to chart our story and set the path to our future.

“We are a community that is making our own future happen; that alone tells its own story,” said Morrissey.

The mayor will also address the evolving partnership between government leadership and District 205, the push for better arts education, an updated overview of the budget, new strategies that have led to improvements in Rockford’s crime statistics, and the positive impact of the city’s investment in CIP as it relates to economic development.

The presentation will also include videos created by Pablo Karona.

An Open House will be held in the lobby of the Coronado from 4 to 6 p.m. Guests are invited to learn more about the upcoming municipal aggregation referendum, economic development initiatives, current and future CIP projects, the upgraded water system, and Rockford Police and Fire recruitment and training, among other informational displays.
