Pro Football: James ‘Big Cat’ Williams in Rockford May 10 for MELD fund-raiser
Former Chicago Bears right tackle James “Big Cat” Williams will be the special guest and speaker at MELD’s Sports Celebrity Event Thursday, May 10.
The event will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., Thursday, May 10, at Giovanni’s Restaurant, 610 N. Bell School Road.
Cost is $75 for dinner and program or $100 for dinner, program and VIP access. VIP access includes a meet-and-greet reception from 6 to 7 p.m. with Williams, a Bears autographed football and appetizers.
The evening will include a live and silent auction and a raffle. Auction and raffle items include sports memorabilia, Cubs and Bears tickets, and a variety of packages.
As a true warrior, loyal to the Bears for 12 years, “Big Cat” has taken that same loyalty and dedication to tackle some of the greatest opponents — hunger and homelessness. Through his charity, Big Cat Charities, his focus is to eradicate the hunger and homelessness of women, single parents and families.
“Big Cat” is an entrepreneur, mentor and motivational speaker. His story is one of hope and possibility, of having a personal vision, working to achieve it and not taking any opportunity for granted. Big Cat’s powerful message is one of overcoming weaknesses, turning fear into fuel, and moving from disappointment to empowerment.
All proceeds from the event will benefit MELD programs for young moms, dads and their children, including the MELD Homeless Shelter, Transitional Living Program, MELD Young Moms and Dads Parent Support Groups, Education and Employment Assistance Program and Homelessness Prevention/Rapid Re-Housing Program.
