The Alzheimer’s Association will offer the Rockford Family Forum from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at Best Western Clock Tower Resort and Conference Center, 7801 E. State St.
Susan Sklar, manager of education and outreach for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Illinois Chapter, explained: “Learn about memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease from experts in the field of aging as well as connect with other caregivers and professionals eager to help. Dynamic speakers will offer practical strategies to address everyday challenges and share reasons for hope. The resource fair provides an excellent opportunity for additional information about products and services available to you.”
An estimated 15 million Alzheimer’s caregivers practice in the United States. In Illinois, 581,773 caregivers who provided 662,523,319 hours of unpaid care. Caregivers will often risk their own personal health to help those they are caring for. This educational opportunity will help empower caregivers to not only provide better care for their loved ones, but also for themselves.
