March 23 ‘Diva’s Night Out’ kicks off Goodwill’s Diva Dress Sale

Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois will host its Third Annual “Diva’s Night Out” Fashion Show beginning at 6 p.m., Friday, March 23, at Best Western Clock Tower Resort and Conference Center, 7801 E. State St., Rockford.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served from 6 to 7 p.m., with a silent auction and fashion show following from 7 to 9 p.m.

Models will show off a large number of special occasion dresses that will be for sale the following day at the Goodwill Diva Dress Sale. Special occasion dresses include bridal, bridesmaid, prom, cocktail, classic little-black, mother of the bride, evening gown, children’s dresses and many more.

Tickets to the fashion show are $25 for adults and $10 for guests 18 years and younger. Tickets may be purchased at or by calling (815) 987-6237.

The Diva Dress Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 24, at the Clock Tower. More than 2,000 special occasion dresses will be for sale from $10 to $30. Shoes, handbags and jewelry will also be for sale. The dresses have been collected from all nine Goodwill stores throughout northern Illinois and Beloit, Wis., and are being brought to one location for this one day only. Admission is free.

Proceeds from the event will help fund two community scholarships that allow local students the opportunity to attain an education and valuable work skills and experiences. The scholarship funds are as follow:

The Jon Lundin Scholarship — awarded to students interested in the manufacturing industry; and

The DoAnn Geiger Scholarship — awarded to people with a disability who wish to continue their education.

Goodwill will also host an online Diva Glam Auction beginning March 15. Guests will be able to bid on a large selection of glamorous and unique items with all proceeds also going toward two community scholarships. To donate to the Diva Glam Auction, visit www.biddingforgood/GoodwillDiva2012.
