Each year, the Rockford Area Music Industry (RAMI) organization hosts several events to help fund the Gary S. Wilmer Memorial Scholarship Fund, including the Youth Charity Jam auditions (Feb. 25) and finals (March 16) at Tebala Shrine Temple, held in conjunction with In Youth We Trust, a great group of active high school students (see Out of 16 bands and seven finalists, congratulations to the 2012 Youth Charity Jam Winners (pictured left to right, with RAMI’s Dan Eisman, third from left); second place, Shattered Picks, $250; first place, Daybreak, $300, and 10 hours of free recording time at Barker Studios; and third place, Marie Ivory, $200. Daybreak also sold the most admission tickets, winning another $100. All these winners will be playing on the Oasis Stage at On The Waterfront Labor Day weekend. First-place winner Daybreak will play the Rockin’ 4 Rockton Arts and Music Festival July 14. Again, thank you to all the bands, volunteers and sponsors that participated in this year’s Youth Charity Jam. See you next year. (Photo by Frank Schier)
