Free golf kick-off March 24 at Elliot Golf Course

Rockford Park District will host its annual free golf season kick-off from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, March 24, at Elliot Golf Course, 888 S. Lyford Road, Cherry Valley.

The event will feature the following opportunities for golfers and attendees:

· Warm up your swing on the driving range with complimentary range balls;

· Get quick putting tips from a PGA professional;

· Learn about Park District golf lessons and tournaments; and

· Sign up to win a 2012 Rockford Park District four-course golf season permit.

Light snacks and beverages will be provided by the Elliot Golf Course concessionaire.

Following are the opening dates for Rockford Park District golf courses:

* Elliot Golf Course, 888 S. Lyford Road, Cherry Valley, and Aldeen Golf Club, 1902 Reid Farm Road, are both already open;

* Sandy Hollow Golf Course, 2670 Sandy Hollow Road, Rockford, will open at 7 a.m., Saturday, March 24, with hours to vary depending on weather (spring fees in effect through March 25);

* Sinnissippi Golf Course, 2004 Arlington Ave., opens Thursday, March 29; and

* Ingersoll Golf Course, 101 Daisyfield Road, Rockford, opens Friday, March 30.
