State Police District 16 share summary of March enforcement activity

PECATONICA, Ill. — Illinois State Police District 16 Commander, Lt. Jeff Bain, announced a summary of March 2012 enforcement activity April 9.
During the month of March, Illinois State Police (ISP) District 16 Troopers handled 1,434 incidents. These incidents included 97 calls and requests for service reported by telephone, other public safety agencies and walk-in requests. The remaining 1,337 incidents were initiated in the field by troopers on patrol.
During the month of March, troopers issued 252 citations and 303 warnings for speeding, and made 18 arrests for driving under the influence. Troopers issued 145 safety belt citations. All other violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code observed by ISP District 16 Troopers resulted in 339 citations and 615 warnings being issued.
ISP District 16 Troopers also made 52 criminal arrests, investigated 13 traffic crashes and assisted 166 motorists. There was one fatal traffic crash reported in ISP District 16 for the month of March.
Troopers inspected 48 commercial vehicles for compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the month of March. Of the commercial vehicles inspected, 11 were placed out of services for driver or vehicle violations. Troopers conducted 83 safety presentations reaching more than 2,400 people.
Illinois State Police District 16 serves Boone, Winnebago, Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties.
