A.B.A.T.E. holds roadside cleanup

April 1, A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois, Thunder Rock Chapter, held a roadside cleanup starting at the rest area on Route 2 just west of the Winnebago/Ogle county border and covered about 1 mile on each side of the rest area. They have done so for more than 10 years, approximately two to four times a year.

Twenty trash bags were collected. Those who attended were Bob Borgen, Tracy Borgen, Bob Carroll, Rob Claeyssen, Amie Eggenburg, Kevin Eggenburg, Ed Elshoff, Hollie Elshoff, Kay Elshoff, Mike Elshoff, Cathy Koziol and Keith Koziol.

A.B.A.T.E. stands for A Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education. The mission of the members of A.B.A.T.E. is to preserve the universal right to a safe, unrestricted motorcycling environment.

Each chapter sponsors fund-raisers for various charities, which helps support the local businesses. The Thunder Rock Chapter covers Ogle County and southern Winnebago County. For more information, go to www.wix.com/thunderrock_il/abate.
