Online Staff Report

BELOIT, Wis. — Does someone you trust know what your wishes are if you have a healthcare crisis, and are those wishes documented?

April 16, National Healthcare Decisions Day, Beloit Regional Hospice staff will be available at Homecare Pharmacy and Grinnell Senior Center to answer your questions and provide information and materials to complete advance directives such as a living will or power of attorney for healthcare for Wisconsin or Illinois.

These are informal sessions without formal presentations, open to anyone, and free of charge. All adults can benefit from thinking about what their healthcare choices would be if they were unable to speak for themselves. Putting these decisions in advance directive documents can be critical in times of crisis.

Advance directives come in two main forms. A “power of attorney for healthcare” documents the person you select to be your voice for your healthcare decisions if you cannot speak for yourself. A “living will” documents what kinds of medical treatments you would or would not want at the end of life.

Pick up these forms and get your questions answered from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., April 16, at Grinnell Senior Center, 631 Bluff St., Beloit, or from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Homecare Pharmacy, 1006 Woodward Ave., Beloit.
