Time is nearly out to get tickets for our five fabulous raffle packages. Winners will be drawn this Saturday, April 14, at our Happy for No Reason Spring Luncheon with author Marci Shimoff. You need not be present to win, so visit our offices or womanspace-rockford.org before 5 p.m., Thursday, April 12, or get tickets Saturday at our event at the Radisson starting at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10 each, or increase your chances of winning by purchasing eight for $50. You select the prize for each ticket, so take your choice from a week at a Sedona Resort, a Rockford Staycation, Overnight at HotelRED with dining in Madison, Wis., a Gourmet Dinner with George Lerret, or a Gourmet Wine & Cheese Night in your home. Prizes range in value from $250 to $1,750.

At noon, April 11, our EarthMatters group watches Trash Inc.: The Secret Life of Garbage addressing, “Where is the “away” when you throw things away?” Dorothy Bock presents an Art Lecture: George Segal April 12, and this is also the final day of our Future Woman: Becoming art exhibit. Two new exhibits open April 20 with Metamorphosis/Transformation in Gallery 1 and our annual Star Student Show in Gallery 3.
Fun with Frugality is a practical support group led by Adriana Grisales April 17, and that same evening, Melinda Hagerman helps you plan your own memorial service at Celebrate Your Life. Grief Guide Tom Zuba presents How to Help Those Living with Loss April 25, and the Mah Jong group gathers that same evening. Inspired by Joseph Campbell’s research and belief that all human beings are heroic by virtue of being born, Janet Lueck, Ph.D., leads Journey of the Female Hero April 28, designed especially for women. Local poet Christine Swanberg is a hero for many of us, as she has found professional success in the publishing world. Women on Poetry is a new anthology with two chapters by Chris, and she discusses this creative process April 30, with strategies for successful writing, and possibilities for publishing and readings.
