New bishop to be ordained, installed May 14 at BMO Harris Bank Center

Bishop Thomas G. Doran, Apostolic administrator of the Rockford Diocese, announced the date for the Episcopal Ordination and Installation of Msgr. David J. Malloy as the ninth Bishop of the Rockford Diocese.

The Rite of Ordination of a Bishop and Installation Ceremony has been set for 2 p.m., Monday, May 14, in the BMO Harris Bank Center in downtown Rockford. The event takes place on the Feast of St. Matthias, the Apostle.

More details and information about seating and admission for the public will be available soon through Catholic parishes in the 11-county Diocese of Rockford, on the diocesan website at www.rockforddiocese.org, in The Observer Catholic newspaper and on the Facebook page for the Diocese of Rockford.

Plans are under way for the event to be broadcast live on the diocesan website and on WREX-TV, Channel 13, Rockford’s local NBC affiliate.
