Hmmm, this one makes me scratch my head. This interim Superintendent was only supposed to originally be with us for one year while the board looked for a replacement, that one year was extended and it looks like now they have given him a third year. Can we drop the interim title now?

Then we have the part that kind of floors me - this "interim" Superintendent over saw the first strike in 28 at years in which the teachers settled for a 0.5% increase on the base pay in both the second and third years of a four year contract while getting no increase in the first or fourth year of that contract. Now here's the confusing point, he gets a 13.5% pay increase this year retro back to January and additional 7.1% pay increase for the 2012-2013 school year. Those are some impressive numbers if I may say so myself. I wish everyone in Rockford could get that kind of contract deal being that the average working in Rockford makes about $35,000.00. I only think that it is fair to compare his salary now to those average workers as was done to the teachers. So if I'm reading this right, which I may not be, our pre-K through 5th grade teachers are the line workers, the secondary teachers are the technicians, then where does that put him? Now don't forget that this was all just done right after they settled a teachers contract that took 11 months to work out and it appears that they were able to work his new contract out in less than 2 weeks. Wow, they are good, aren't they. Kind of have to wonder if this was all worked out, including timing, to play out this way. Something is not all as it seems it should be around here.

Just one of those Rockford things that makes you want to go .... hmmmmm?
