Rotary Club to donate 2,100 books to kindergartners in Rockford Public Schools
Online Staff Report
The Rockford Rotary Club has announced it will donate a copy of The Night Before First Grade to every kindergartner in Rockford Public School District 205 during the first week of May. The donation amounts to a total of 2,100 books.
A grant from The Rockford Rotary Club Charitable Association and the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois was matched by a Rotary District Community Grant, allowing Rockford Rotary Club members to purchase copies of the book. Every kindergarten student in the Rockford Public Schools will be handed their own copy of the book in their classrooms.
Rotary members will be preparing the books for distribution at the Rockford Public Schools facility at 1907 S. Kishwaukee St., from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, April 21. Then, during the week of May 1-4, Rotary members and District 205 personnel will be distributing the books to each kindergarten student in each school.
