U.S. Reps. Manzullo, Schilling to host regional transportation summit in Rockford

U.S. Reps. Don Manzullo, R-Egan, and Bobby Schilling, R-Colona, will host a regional transportation summit in Rockford Wednesday afternoon, May 2, to hear from local officials about major road, rail and airport projects that should get priority funding in coming years.
The summit will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, in the auditorium at the Chicago-Rockford International Airport administration building, 60 Airport Drive, Rockford. The congressmen will be joined by representatives from the offices of U.S. Senators Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Mark Kirk, R-Ill. Local officials giving presentations include the following: Rockford Mayor Larry Morrissey (I); Mike Dunn, director of development and government affairs, Chicago-Rockford International Airport; Steve Ernst, executive director of RMAP; Joe Vanderwerff Sr., Winnebago County highway engineer; Stephenson County Board Chairman John Blum; Betty Steinert, director of Economic Development for Whiteside County; and Barb Suehl, Highway 30 coalition.
A short media availability will follow the summit and then the Congressmen will take a quick windshield tour of the airport at around 3 p.m.
