Man sentenced to nine years for criminal sexual assault of teen-ager

Mauro Lima, 32, pled guilty to two counts of criminal sexual assault and was sentenced May 11 in front of Judge Ron White to nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a minimum of three years to life for mandatory supervised release.
The defendant assaulted the victim on two occasions when she was 14 and 15 years of age. On one occasion, defendant took his clothes off and made contact with his penis into the victim’s vagina. On the other occasion, the defendant forced his hand down the victim’s pants and penetrated her vagina with his finger. The defendant admitted to committing these acts and stated it was wrong. The defendant has no other prior criminal history.
Criminal sexual assault is a class 1 felony with a sentencing range of four to 15 years in the Department of Corrections. The defendant was sentenced to five years and four years consecutive on two counts of criminal sexual assault for a total of nine years. Truth in sentencing applies, and Lima must serve 85 percent of his sentence.
