Police in search of clues in May 14 shooting on Lincoln Park Boulevard

At 2:47 p.m., Monday, May 14, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the area of 302 Lincoln Park Blvd., in Rockford in regards to a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Investigation at the scene determined the victim worked for Direct USA Meat Company. The victim and a co-worker were in the area in a truck selling meat. They were flagged down by a male who inquired about purchasing meat. This subject subsequently produced a handgun and attempted to rob the victim. The suspect fired one shot and the victim was hit in the leg.

The suspect is described as a black male, late 20s or early 30s, 5-foot-8, 170 to 190 pounds. His hair was in braids, he had sideburns and a goatee, and he was wearing a brown shirt and khaki shorts.

The suspect was last seen northbound on foot.

The victim was transported to a Rockford hospital with a non life-threatening wound.
