Three charged with May 2 shooting on Broadway, two in custody

Rockford residents Reza Box, 19, Darion J. Gulley, 19, and Kenneth D. Torrance, 23, have been charged with the May 2 shooting of a 34-year-old man.

The shooting occurred shortly before noon, May 2, in the 2600 block of Broadway in Rockford. Upon arrival at the scene, police located a 34-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for life-threatening injuries.

Box was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and armed violence. The Illinois Department of Corrections issued a hold on Box, who was on parole for residential burglary.

Gulley was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and armed violence. A Winnebago County Probation warrant was issued for Gulley because of his probationary status.

Torrance was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and armed violence.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for Box, Gulley and Torrance.

May 4, detectives served Box with the arrest warrant in the Winnebago County Jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges.

May 9, detectives located Gulley and placed him under arrest.
