18-year-old charged with May 14 Lincoln Park Boulevard shooting

Marc Anthony Bell, 18, has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a firearm and armed robbery in relation to a May 14 shooting on Lincoln Park Boulevard in Rockford.
At approximately 2:47 p.m., Monday, May 14, Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the area of 302 Lincoln Park Blvd., in Rockford, regarding a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Investigation at the scene determined the victim worked for Direct USA Meat Company. The victim and a co-worker were in a truck in the area selling meat.
They were flagged down by a male, who inquired about purchasing meat. This subject subsequently produced a handgun and attempted to rob the victim. The suspect fired one shot, and the victim was hit in the leg.
An investigation conducted by Winnebago County Sheriff’s detectives was reviewed by the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, and an arrest warrant and search warrant were authorized.
Bell was taken into custody Tuesday, May 15, and is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail.
