Tickets now on sale for Malcolm Eaton Enterprises’ Pork Chop Dinner

FREEPORT, Ill.— Tickets are now on sale for Malcolm Eaton Enterprises’ 18th Annual Pork Chop Dinner, to be held from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 20, at the organization’s Main Campus, 570 W. Lamm Road, Freeport. Tickets are available at Cub Foods, Lena State Bank and Malcolm Eaton Enterprises.

“We are excited to once again offer the best pork chop dinner around while making it convenient for people to enjoy their food,” said Julie Hilliger, Malcolm’s manager of development and communications. “Diners can select from having their pork chops brought right to their door through our delivery service, or people can pick up their food in the popular drive-through, located in the SportsPlex parking lot. A full-service dining room awaits those who wish to attend the event.”

For delivery service, call (815) 235-7181 starting at 8 a.m. the day of the event. Meals will be delivered between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Delivery is available only in Freeport with a $2 delivery fee per destination. Only cash, checks and advance tickets will be accepted for delivery payment.

Tickets are $10, and the meal includes two specially-seasoned pork chops, baked potato, green beans, applesauce, roll and a beverage. Although serving is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the dining room will remain open until 4 p.m.; the drive-through is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The SportsPlex is just north of Malcolm Eaton. People can enter off Walnut Road.

Malcolm Eaton Enterprises will again sponsor a car show in conjunction with the pork chop dinner. Awards will honor the Top 60 entrants as determined by participant judging plus nine “Best of”, and one Best of Show trophy will be awarded, Three Special Interest plaques will also be given. The car show is presented by Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 679. Registrations are being accepted for the show, which starts at 8 a.m. that day. New this year is a vendor fair highlighting various products such as Lia Sophia, Pampered Chef and other products. The items will be for sale. It is designed to provide another entertainment option for event-goers.

Proceeds from these annual fund-raisers will go toward chairs for both Main and West Campus cafeterias, folding chairs, exercise mats for the West Campus, sidewalk repairs for the Main Campus and a video surveillance system for the West Campus.

Malcolm Eaton Enterprises is a nonprofit vocational training center for adults with development disabilities that provides community employment services and operates residential services in a variety of settings including small group homes as well as individual apartments. It also offers respite care, a summer day camp for youth, and helps prepare low-cost guardianships for people with developmental disabilities. Its services are based in two Freeport facilities.
