Woman dies after SUV collides with Rockford Mass Transit bus on Spring Brook Road

Rachel Jacob, 62, of Loves Park, was killed Thursday, May 17, after the black Toyota RAV4 she was driving collided with a Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) bus in the 6800 block of Spring Brook Road in Rockford.
According to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, an autopsy concurred that Jacob suffered a medical crisis but was unable to identify the cause. She died of multiple blunt force trauma.
Officers responded to the two-vehicle crash at 3:05 p.m., May 17, and learned the Toyota RAV4 had been traveling westbound when it collided with the RMTD bus, which was traveling eastbound.
The roadway was shut down for several hours.
