Body of missing Loves Park boater pulled from Rock River

The body of a missing Loves Park boater was pulled from the Rock River at about 2 p.m., Monday, May 21.
Terry J. McFaddin, 52, of Loves Park, went missing Sunday, May 20, after dropping friends off at the Verdi Club between 3 and 3:30 a.m. His pontoon boat was found unoccupied on a cement ramp near 2312 Illinois St., at around 4:25 p.m., Sunday, May 20.
On the afternoon of Monday, May 21, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Rockford Fire Department and Illinois Department of Conservation Police continued searching the Rock River for McFaddin. Each agency deployed boats, and Rockford Fire and Department of Conservation both had sonar.
A body was located by the sonar about 200 yards south of where McFaddin’s pontoon was located. The body was in the center of the river, in about 12 feet of water.
Rockford Fire divers recovered the body, and he has been identified as McFaddin.
The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office took control of the body, and an autopsy will be scheduled.
The investigation is ongoing.
