18-year-old shot and killed at BP on Auburn Street

Rockford police are investigating the shooting death of 18-year-old Dwayne Buchanan, who was shot and killed at the BP gas station, 3721 Auburn St., Rockford, shortly before 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 22.
According to police, a van occupied by four or five people was involved in the shooting. Another individual was injured in the shooting and walked in to a local hospital.
A press release from the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy will be performed on Buchanan May 23 to determine the exact cause of death. Buchanan suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
