Man charged in May 18 home invasion on Parmele Street

Joshua Irvin, 26, of Rockford, has been charged with two counts of home invasion, aggravated assault of a victim older than 60 and battery in regard to a May 18 home invasion on Parmele Street in Rockford.
At about 5:30 p.m., May 18, Rockford police responded to a man armed with a knife at 1413 Parmele St., Rockford. Upon arrival, officers were advised a suspect armed with a knife entered the residence and demanded money from the 72-year-old victim. The victim’s son fought off the attacker, and the suspect fled from the residence.
Rockford police obtained a warrant for Irvin after conducting a follow-up investigation and reviewing the facts of the case with the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Irvin was located and placed under arrest May 23 with assistance from the Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Division. Irvin is on parole for armed robbery and home invasion. An Illinois Department of Corrections hold was placed on Irvin.
