Three arrested on cocaine charges following months-long investigation

A several month-long investigation into the selling of cocaine on the east side of Rockford has resulted in the arrest of three individuals.
Miguel F. Rubi, 25, of Rockford, Damaso Luna, 40, of Rockford, and Edward W. Spitz, 35, of Rockford, were arrested at 3803 Modesto Drive in Rockford May 22.
Members of the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit and the Rockford Drug Enforcement Agency office had jointly been investigating a subject who was involved with selling cocaine at various locations around the east side of Rockford.
A search warrant was executed for the Modesto Drive location May 22. During the course of the investigation, nearly 200 grams of cocaine, 180 grams of cannabis, more than $25,000 in U.S. currency and a loaded handgun were recovered.
Rubi faces six counts of delivery of 15-100 grams of cocaine; possession with intent to deliver 15-100 grams of cocaine; possession of 30-500 grams of cannabis; and no Firearm Owner’s Identification card. His bond has been set at $500,000.
Luna has been charged with possession with intent to deliver 15-100 grams of cocaine. His bond has been set at $150,000.
Spitz has been charged with possession of less than 15 grams of cocaine. He has been released on bond.
