Two arrested for armed robbery on bike path

Mikhael L. Foster, 18, and Dustin T. Young, 21, have been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery in relation to the May 24 armed robbery of two victims on the bike path near Minns Drive in Machesney Park.
On the afternoon of Thursday May 24, Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the area of the Minns Drive in Machesney Park in reference to a robbery.
Upon arrival, they spoke to two males who indicated they had been robbed while on the bike path in the 4900 block of Minns Drive. The victims advised they had been approached by two suspects, one of whom indicated he had a knife, and they demanded their property.
The suspects obtained property from the victims and fled the area on foot.
Sheriff’s deputies in the area located two subjects who matched the description and took them into custody. They were turned over to detectives who continued with the investigation.
Foster and Young are being held in the Winnebago County Jail.
