‘Sweeney Todd’ starts Starlight Theatre season June 6

Rock Valley College’s (RVC) Starlight Theatre begins its 46th season June 6 with the Starlight debut of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street! (June 6-9 and July 11-15).
Based on Christopher Bond’s retelling of the Victorian pennydreadful The String of Pearls, this musical (with a book by Hugh Wheeler) tells the tale of Sweeney Todd, a murderous barber, and his partner in crime, Nellie Lovett.
This year’s productions will also include Little Women (June 13-16 and July 18-22), Into the Woods (June 20-23 and July 25-29) and 9 to 5: the Musical (June 27-30 and Aug. 1-5).
Into the Woods was last performed at Starlight Theatre and directed by Mike Webb in 1992. Like Sweeney Todd, Little Women and 9 to 5: the Musical will be performed for the first time on the Starlight stage.
