Comprehensive Community Solutions offers AmeriCorps positions

Comprehensive Community Solutions, Inc., is seeking one qualified individual to fill an AmeriCorps VISTA position.
The VISTA position includes the following qualifications: applicants must have U.S. citizenship, be a U.S. national, or be a lawful permanent resident; they must have a bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences or business or three years of experience working with at-risk youth/difficult-to-serve populations.
They must also have strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to work as part of a team; they must be in possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license; and must have the availability to serve one full year.
AmeriCorps VISTA members will be involved in a variety of programs, including fund-raising, corporate/business partnership development, external communications and marketing, and special project development. Activities will include research and grant writing, corporate outreach, community networking, coordinating special projects, volunteer recruitment, and developing volunteer manuals and promotional materials.
The VISTA appointment is for one year and is anticipated to start Aug. 6, 2012. Compensation is a living allowance in the amount of $855 per month plus benefits, which include insurance and possible child care. In addition, VISTA members receive a $5,550 Educational Award at the end of their 12 months of service.
Comprehensive Community Solutions, Inc., is also seeking individuals to fill seven full-time AmeriCorps positions. Applications will be accepted throughout the year until positions are filled.
AmeriCorps members will provide direct service of the program in the areas of human needs, education, public safety and the environment. Specific service can include working with the Community Leadership Committee, tracking program outcomes, graduate mentorship and public speaking on behalf of the program.
AmeriCorps applicants must be at least 17 years of age, speak English well and have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. They must also possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Successful candidates will possess skills and abilities that include problem-solving, working independently and interpersonal relationships-building: teamwork, strong verbal and written communication, dependability, positive attitude, computer literacy, organization, ability to adapt to change, and the ability to handle multiple tasks as assigned.
The AmeriCorps appointments are for one year. Compensation is $930.76 per month, which includes insurance and possible child care. In addition, AmeriCorps members receive a $5,550 Educational Award at the end of their successful 12 months of service to the program.
