Deputy Police Chief Michael Booker to retire

Deputy Chief of Rockford Police Michael Booker has announced his retirement, effective June 15, after 30 years of dedicated service.

Deputy Chief Booker began his career in 1982 as a police cadet, and he has served in every rank position of the department — police cadet, patrolman, investigator, sergeant, lieutenant and for the past six years as deputy chief. He has served in both the operational and administrative positions as a deputy chief.

Deputy Chief Booker and I served as police cadets in 1982, and I am honored for his steadfast commitment to quality policing,” said Chief Chet Epperson.

Deputy Chief Booker will have a Retirement Ceremony between 9 and 11 a.m., Friday, June 15, at the Public Safety Building, second-floor classroom. All are invited to attend and wish Deputy Chief Booker a happy retirement.
