Midway Village Museum will present its national award-winning signature summer event, “1900 America: Chautauqua Celebration,” June 9-10, at the 13-acre Victorian-era village on the museum campus, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford.
The 1900 America event offers two days of rich entertainment and interactive history programs for visitors of all ages. Visitors are invited to participate in the time-honored tradition of The Chautauqua and experience stories that made history.

Demonstrations of sharp-shooting and trick riding will be shown at Buffalo Bill’s Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World on the Midway Village green. Two shows will be held Saturday, at 12:30 and 3 p.m., and one Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
The event will also include live period music and theater presentations; Dr. Balthazar’s Miracle Medicine Shows; re-enactments of the Spanish/American PhilippineWar soldiers’ encampment; and demonstrations of antique high-wheel bicycles by the Illinois Wheelmen and Wisconsin Wheelmen. There will also be horse-drawn wagon rides and a presentation of Rockford’s Grand Army of the Republic Civil War Veterans.
