Online Staff Report
Beginning Thursday, June 7, medical and radiation oncology consultations will be offered at SwedishAmerican Medical Center/Belvidere’s specialty center, 1625 S. State St., Belvidere, Ill.
The center provides high-quality health care services to Belvidere and Boone, western McHenry and northern DeKalb counties.
Patients will be seen the first and third Thursdays of every month, with coverage provided by Drs. Samuel Andrews and Prakash Pedapati in radiation oncology, and Drs. Nameer Al Mardini and William Schulz in medical oncology.
Appointments and physician referrals can be made by calling the SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center/ACT clinic in Rockford at (815) 986-2286.
“By introducing oncology services at Medical Center/Belvidere, SwedishAmerican is making it more convenient for patients in Boone County to receive consultations and follow up appointments with their physicians closer to home,” said Diane Scoville, SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center director, MSHA.
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) recently granted three-year accreditation with commendation to SwedishAmerican Hospital’s cancer program. At SwedishAmerican, patients benefit from the region’s largest number of oncology physicians and a nationally certified staff of nurses, radiation therapists, physicists, social workers, pharmacists, chaplains and dieticians who work together to provide a unique team approach to cancer care.
SwedishAmerican is moving forward with plans to build and operate a free-standing outpatient cancer center in collaboration with UW Health and its nationally recognized University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
