Woman sentenced to eight years for possession with intent to deliver heroin

Dionne Richardson, 43, pled guilty and was sentenced May 21 by Judge Ronald White to eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a drug-free zone.
March 19, at approximately 9:55 a.m., members of the Rockford Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 629 15th Ave. in the lower apartment. During the search, detectives located in a bedroom approximately 2 gross grams of heroin, $599 of United States currency, Dormin capsules, a scale and baggie corners.
Dormin is an item commonly used to cut or dilute heroin.
Detectives also located four individually packaged bags of heroin on the kitchen table. The resident was located within 1,000 feet of the Blackhawk Housing development, which is owned and operated by the Rockford Housing Authority, a public housing agency, resulting in the residence being located in a Drug-Free Zone.
Possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, 1-15 grams in a Drug-Free Zone, is a class X felony with a sentencing range of probation or six to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, non-probationable. Because of the defendant’s previous record, her sentencing range increases to six to 60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
