Police make arrest in May 23 CITGO gas station murder

Rockford police have made an arrest in the May 23 murder of 57-year-old Michael Studer, who was shot and killed in the parking lot of the CITGO Gas Station at 4315 Auburn St., Rockford.
An unnamed 15-year-old male juvenile of Rockford has been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. The male juvenile is in custody.
The investigation by Rockford Police detectives is ongoing and police said the arrest of additional suspects is possible. Police were originally in search of two suspects in the case.

Police responded to the CITGO gas station on Auburn Street shortly after 11:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, officers located a shooting victim, Studer, sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of the business. Studer sustained multiple gunshot wounds, one to the torso.
Rockford Fire Department personnel arrived and transported Studer to Rockford Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:59 a.m., May 24. An autopsy revealed the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the torso.
