Beloit International Film Fest to screen films year-round
Online Staff Report
BELOIT, Wis. — The Beloit International Film Festival (BIFF), in partnership with Bushel and Peck’s Local Market in Beloit, Wis., and the Lincoln-Tallman House in Janesville, Wis., will bring independent films to the stateline area throughout the year. The new BIFF Year-Round program will bring audiences to downtown Beloit and to one of Rock County’s premiere historic sites.
“Our audience has been asking for more BIFF independent films during the year, and we are happy to oblige,” said BIFF Executive Director Roddie Beaudoin. “The great response to some of the films presented at this year’s film festival in February prompted us to add extra showings of some of the more popular films. Even then, many who couldn’t get in asked if we could show the films again during the year. And for the past few years, the Florida ‘snowbirds’ have been asking for repeat showings of the films that their frozen friends have been raving about.”
Jackie Gennet, owner of Bushel and Peck’s, said: “We’re thrilled to be expanding our partnership with BIFF and to present films throughout the year in our new state-of-the-art screening room. Bushel and Peck’s is all about bringing people together, and one of the great ways to do that is with a meal and a movie. Now, we will have both on a regular basis.”
BIFF Year-Round premiered May 5 at Bushel and Peck’s with a screening of the 2012 winner of both Best Feature Film and Best Screenplay awards, Lutefisk Wars.
The BIFF Year-Round season in Janesville, Wis., kicks off June 16 with a screening of the 2012 Power of Film Award Winner, Forgotten Soldiers. This will be part of the Lincoln-Tallman House program called “World War II, Living History.”
Future dates will include a presentation of one of BIFF’s great horror films from the archives following the Oak Hill Cemetery tour in Janesville, Wis., from 1 to 4 p.m., Oct. 6. Nov. 24, the Lincoln-Tallman House will present “A Civil War Holiday” event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and following the program will show the popular BIFF independent film from two years ago, Love & Valor: The Intimate Civil War Letters.
