Cruise the Rock River over lunch on the ‘Forest City Queen’

Lunch or meeting options will soon include the chance to enjoy an affordable meal while cruising the Rock River.

The Grab ’N’ Go Lunch Cruise on the Forest City Queen takes place every Friday through Sept. 28 (no Grab ’N’ Go available Aug. 31).

Grab a boxed lunch on the dock, and board the Forest City Queen for a relaxing 30-minute cruise. Lunch includes your choice of hot dog, hamburger, cheeseburger or chicken hot off the grill, plus chips, cookie and soda or water. No reservations are needed; walk-ups welcome.

Grab ’N’ Go Lunch Cruise times are 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m. and 1 p.m. Prices are $8 for adults ($8.50 non-resident); $7.50 ($8.50 non-resident) for ages 5-17; and $5 for ages 4 and younger.

In addition to the Grab ’N’ Go Lunch Cruise, the Forest City Queen has a variety of specialty cruise options, including: Wednesday Family Fun Night, Friday Night Fish Fry Cruises, and Saturday Evening Sunset Dinner Cruises. Private rentals are also available. Reservations are required at least three days prior to cruise dates.

The Forest City Queen’s specialty cruises, as well as weekday and weekend cruises, include a 45-minute river cruise that provides passengers with interesting information about Rockford’s history, with a glimpse of some of the most stately homes along the Rock River.

Children (ages 4 and younger): Free

Youth (ages 5-17): $3.50 ($4 non-resident)

Adults (ages 18 and older): $4.50 ($5 non-resident)

Groups (per individual)*: $3 ($3.50 non-resident)

* group rate fees apply for 10 or more paid individuals

Weekday rides (June 6-Aug. 17) — Wednesdays and Fridays, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.

Weekend rides (June 2-Aug. 26) — Saturdays and Sundays, noon, 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.

The Trolley Station Ticket Booth’s summer hours (June 2-Aug. 26) are 1:30-4:30 p.m., Wednesdays; 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Thursdays; 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Friday; and 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
