Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 17, and even though the temperatures have already climbed up into the 90-degree range, the Rockford IceHogs have put together a unique gift idea for “Dear Ol’ Dad” that will make him one of the coolest guys in town. It’s called the “Dad’s Day Out Package.” For only $40 you can let dad feel like an IceHogs VIP for one day during the upcoming 2012-13 season.

The “Dad’s Day Out Package” includes two tickets to a pre-selected Saturday home game, access to the IceHogs’ morning skate at 10 a.m., autographs with select IceHogs players, tour of the IceHogs’ locker room and an opportunity to skate on the BMO Harris Bank Center ice following the morning skate for an hour.

Fans who purchase the “Dad’s Day Out Package” will have the choice of choosing from two different Saturday options. The IceHogs’ schedule will be released later this summer, and the two options will be made available then.

To purchase a “Dad’s Day Out Package” or for questions, call the IceHogs at (815) 847-6399. A limited number of packages are available. Additional tickets can be added to each package for $10 per ticket.

The only thing that might make dad feel like more of an IceHogs fan is if he had his own game-worn jersey. Currently, six of them are up for auction on the IceHogs’ eBay store.

The authentic team-issued jerseys available are from the 2010-11 season and include Andy Bomhbach, Scott Fletcher, Joe Lavin, Joe Palmer, Zack Torquato and Ivan Vishnevskiy. The starting price for all the jerseys is $250. Fletcher, Lavin, and Bomhbach’s jerseys are road jerseys (red) while Torquato, Palmer and Vishnevskiy’s are the home uniforms (white). The current auction ends at 2 p.m., Friday, June 15. Stay tuned to or check the IceHogs’ eBay store for more game-used IceHogs jerseys, including the 2011-12 set, which will go on sale later this summer.

Whether your dad gets one of the above IceHogs-related items or something totally different, Happy Father’s Day to every single dad out there who has shared their love of sports with their sons and/or daughters!
