June 15 Jazz on the Rock benefits Children’s Home & Aid

Online Staff Report

Children’s Home & Aid Society hosts its 13th Annual Jazz on the Rock at the Rockford Country Club Friday, June 15. Event starts at 6:30 p.m. with a cash bar.

Guests will dance to the music of the Bobby DaVita Combo, share in a fantastic silent auction, a live auction with O.D. Holley offering fantastic vacation destinations and more.

A unique feature of the event is that attendees are able to select a choice of one of three entrees.

It takes a strong board, volunteers, community businesses and major sponsors to make an event like this work,” said Regional Development Manager Judith Loudin. “Were it not for sponsors like SwedishAmerican Health System, Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc., Jack Wolf Auto City, Stillman Bank, Alpine Bank, Balsley Printing, P.S. Designs and More, and the law firm of Barrick, Switzer, Long Balsley and Van Evera, we could never accomplish the goal to raise $30,000.”

In addition, there is a raffle for an iPad 3 with 16GB and WiFi. Tickets are $10 each or three for $20. Raffle tickets can be purchased and reservations can be made online at www.childrenshomeandaid.org under Events “Jazz on the Rock.” The drawing is Friday, June 15, and you need not be present to win.

Regional Board Chair Cheryl Church said: “The added element of an opportunity to win something like an iPad 3 builds excitement at the event and increases revenue to the bottom line. Last year, we raised an additional $3,000 with an iPad2 raffle.”

Proceeds will go to help the children in the community who have experienced domestic violence, are impoverished and are at risk of abuse. These children often wake up and go to bed to the sights and sounds of neighborhood crime.

Through the programs of Children’s Home & Aid Society, children and their families learn non-violent conflict resolution, how to make better choices, socialization skills and belongingness.

Contributions help the development of strong citizens who will endeavor to be community leaders in the next generation.

To make reservation online, go to www.childrenshomeandaid.org under Events Jazz on the Rock.
