June 25 deadline to file as candidate for Forest Preserve District seat
Three positions on the Winnebago County Forest Preserve District (WCFPD) Board of Commissioners are open to be filled through the general election Nov. 6. Commissioners are elected at large and are non-partisan and unpaid.
Individuals interested in running must submit a nomination petition. One position fulfills the remaining two years of an unexpired four-year term. The other two are full six-year terms.
Nomination petitions require a minimum of 100 signatures. The earliest time to file a petition with the Winnebago County Clerk is at 8 a.m., June 18. The available time to file a petition ends at 5 p.m., June 25.
A Statement of Economic Interest, as required by the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act, must be filed with the County Clerk by June 25.
All newly elected commissioners will assume their office Dec. 5.
Nomination petitions are available at the County Clerk’s office, 404 Elm St.
