RMTD holds public hearings on proposed route changes

Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) will be holding a series of public hearings throughout the community Thursday, June 14, to introduce some proposed route changes and solicit comments and concerns from the community about these changes. Any changes to the route system would go into effect later this year, with an anticipated start date of late September. The public hearing process is the first step in moving forward with this effort.
The schedule for the public hearings is as follows:
Thursday, June 14 — 10:30 a.m. — RMTD East Side Transfer Center, 725 Lyford Road, Community Room
Thursday, June 14 — 2 p.m. — Rockford Public Library Montague Branch, 1238 S. Winnebago St., Connie Lane Room
Thursday, June 14 — 6 p.m. — Ken-Rock Community Center, 3218 11th St., Community Room
RMTD is encouraging everyone from the community to attend one or more of these sessions to their opinion about the proposed route changes and share how the changes would impact their RMTD riding habits.
RMTD provides more than 1.6 million rides each year. The District has a fleet of 64 fixed route and paratransit vehicles and offers 18 hours of service Mondays through Fridays, 13 hours of service Saturdays, and eight hours Sundays. Rockford Mass Transit also provides service to Loves Park and Machesney Park.
