Rockford Rescue Mission gets perfect score in state audit of recovery program
Online Staff Report
Rockford Rescue Mission received a perfect score in a recent audit conducted by the Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (a division of the Illinois Department of Human Services), which licenses facilities in the state of Illinois as certified recovery homes.
The onsite evaluation, which took place May 10, examined the Mission’s facilities, budgetary means and management, and case management policies and procedures, and found them to be in “substantial compliance” with all requirements, expectations and outcomes, certifying their license for another two years.
According to Executive Director Sherry Pitney, Rockford Rescue Mission is not required to have the license to conduct its long-term recovery program, but they welcome the audit out of their desire to provide the highest quality of service possible.
“We were thrilled to score 100 percent,” Pitney said. “It’s the state of Illinois saying Rockford Rescue Mission is above and beyond most facilities they license as recovery programs.”
Pitney explained that while it’s hard work to maintain the level of standards required for the perfect score, those efforts are the norm at the Mission.
“We did nothing to prepare for the audit that we don’t do on a daily basis to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients,” Pitney said.
Pitney said the Rockford community and Mission supporters should feel good about the ranking, as well.
“Our work would not be possible without their partnership, and it’s important for them to know their time, prayers and funds are going toward the best environment possible in which to change lives,” Pitney said. “We’re providing excellent stewardship of the resources they provide.”
Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year since 1964, Rockford Rescue Mission provides nutritious meals and safe shelter for thousands of hungry and homeless men, women and children every year, along with recovery programs and outreach services to rescue, recover and restore the lives of those who are struggling in the Rockford community.
