Three arrested after drugs found at Charles Street apartment

Members of the Rockford Police Department’s Narcotics Unit received information from an anonymous citizen that they believed drugs were being sold by the occupants of the lower apartment at 1315 Charles St. The caller advised of heavy traffic going into the residence.

June 12, the Rockford Narcotics Unit went to this location to investigate the complaint.

At the residence, detectives located several subjects and recovered nine bags of suspected cannabis, which one of the individuals was in possession of. He was identified as Mario Craig, 36, of Rockford.

Craig, who is currently on parole for a previous cannabis violation, was released from the Illinois Department of Corrections June 8.

Another individual, after providing a fictitious name, was identified as Robert H. Montgomery, 36, of Rockford, and he was found to have two confirmed warrants for his arrest.

A male juvenile was also located on sight and was found to have a narcotics-related warrant for his arrest.

All three subjects were taken into custody without incident and are being held at the Winnebago County Jail.

Craig faces charges of possession with intent to deliver 2.5-10 grams of cannabis. His bond is set at $1,500.

Montgomery faces a Lee County warrant, a Rockford warrant (theft) and obstructing identification charges. He is bond is set at $36,500.

The 16-year-old juvenile was also arrested.
