Rockford police investigate June 13 west-side robberies

Rockford police are investigating two June 13 robberies, one that occurred near Arthur Avenue and Avon Street and another that occurred near North Rockton Avenue at Overdene Avenue.
At around 10:10 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, three black male teen-agers on bikes approached a woman in the area of Arthur Avenue and Avon Street. One of the teen-agers pointed a gun at the woman and demanded money. The woman gave the suspects her purse, and the suspects fled north on Avon. Police recovered some of the victim’s property nearby, and the woman was not injured.
The suspect was described as a black male, 17, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 125 pounds, with a dark complexion and Afro, last seen wearing a white T-shirt and black jeans.
The second incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 13. A man walking on North Rockton Avenue at Overdene Avenue reported being the victim of a robbery. A man had ordered him to empty his pockets and reached behind him as if reaching for a weapon. The assailant stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim.
