Sinnissippi Golf Course celebrates 100 years with specials June 15-22

Rockford Park District invites golfers to join the week-long celebration of Sinnissippi Golf Course’s 100th birthday, Friday-Friday, June 15-22, at 2004 Arlington Ave., Rockford.
Birthday bash specials include the following:
• Friday, June 15 — Free birthday cake to the first 100 golfers
• Golf for free (with purchase of a motorized cart rental)
• 100th golfer each day receives a $15 Golf Bonus Card
• Plus — pass holders can complete an entry form to win a $100 Rockford Park District gift card.
In addition, the Park District is offering 100 days of free golf giveaways to its Facebook fans:
• “Like” Golf-Rockford Park District on Facebook for a chance to win a free round of golf at Sinnissippi Golf Course
• Every day for 100 days (June 15-Sept. 22), one Facebook fan will be selected to receive one free round of golf
• Contestants have to “like” Golf-Rockford Park District on Facebook to be eligible to win.
• Watch for the new Rockford Golfs! web and mobile sites.
Sinnissippi Golf Course
Sinnissippi Golf Course covers 60 acres, is 3,320 yards long, and is a par 37 course established in 1912 as the first municipal course in Rockford; it is the oldest of Rockford Park District’s golf courses. The course was designed by Thomas Bendelow, who also designed golf courses in Medina and Olympia Fields, Ill. In the 1920s, Sinnissippi was one of the longest nine-hole courses in the United States, and in the 1980s, it was ranked by the National Golf Foundation as one of the top 10 nine-hole courses in Illinois.
