Jim Hughes to run for Rockford mayor

James “Jim” Hughes will announce his candidacy as a Democratic candidate for mayor of Rockford at Memorial Hall at 2 p.m., today, Tuesday, June 26.

Hughes’ past experience and community activity includes serving as a UAW union official; a business owner; a Rockford Democratic alderman; a Democratic Winnebago County Board member; and minority leader while serving on the Winnebago County Board.

Hughes is currently Winnebago Director of Development Services, developing liaison relationships with local, state and federal agencies.
