Rock River sweep gains not-for-profit status

Rock River Sweep.org is pleased and excited to announce that the Internal Revenue Service has determined we are exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Rock River Sweep.org is now officially recognized as a not-for-profit corporation and may accept tax-deductible contributions under section 170 of the Code. This determination also qualifies our organization to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under sections 2055, 2106, and 2522 of the Code.

Beginning in 2009 as a vision for the year 2010, and many years to come, the focal point of Rock River Sweep.org, The Great Rock River Sweep, has proven very successful. With volunteers joining together from Waupun, Wis., to Cleveland, Ill., past Rock River sweeps have removed more than 173 tires and other trash and debris in excess of 28,000 pounds from our river.

Our sincere and heartfelt thanks go out to all of our supporters and volunteers; those who have joined with us to turn this vision into reality, whether it is by monetary contributions, contributions of goods and/or services, or contributions of time and manpower to physically clean up our Rock River.

We anticipate a large and enthusiastic turnout of volunteers Saturday, Sept. 8, as we conduct our Third Annual Great Rock River Sweep, so we encourage all of you to mark your calendar and locate your nearest or dearest registration site so you won’t miss out on one of the most rewarding experiences you will have this year.
