Oregon Trail Days offers July 20 Tipi Scramble golf event
Staff Report
OREGON, Ill. — Oregon Trail Days and the Oregon Country Club are joining forces to create the Oregon Trail Days Tipi Scramble.
The nine-hole, shotgun start will commence at 3 p.m., July 20, and will include a number of games, prizes and competitions.
Cost is $30 per person for a four-person team. Part of the proceeds will go toward the festival and the restoration of the Black Hawk Statue.
After an afternoon of golfing, guests are invited to stay for dinner. Hamburgers and brats with all the accompaniments will be served at 6:30 p.m.
“We’re thrilled that the golf course wanted to be a part of our festivities,” said Beth Henderson. “The staff’s willingness to help with our event and wanting to be a major contributor to the success of Oregon Trail Days really took us by surprise. This is exactly the type of partnerships we hoped to create when we first came up with the idea for the festival.”
Tom Gerke, golf pro at Oregon Country Club, added: “We are very excited to be here in Oregon and want the residents to know that the course is open to the public and ready for golfers. We couldn’t think of a better way to get involved than to be a part of Oregon Trail Days. The Tipi Scramble will be a great way to kick off the weekend of activities.”
Registration can be made at the Oregon Country Club, 250 S. Daisyville Road, Oregon, Ill., or by printing the registration form at www.oregontraildays.org. The country club can be reached at (815) 732-7405.
