Rock House Kids will host an evening of music and food July 7 with special guest Jim Whitaker, also known as Jimmy Jack Whitaker. He will perform on the Rock House Kids stage beginning at 7 p.m.
Whitaker is an award-winning BMI writer, producer, musician and vocalist. His first break came in 1978 when he wrote “Ode to the Farmer.” Whitaker is a well-known singer in the Christian country music arena, but he is also successful as a songwriter, and has written many songs thathave become hits. Whitaker also performs in churches, jails, prisons, nursing homes and street ministries.
Open house and tours of the facility will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Food items will be available for sale, such as barbecue, bratwurst, chips, sodas, popcorn and desserts.
Rock House Kids was founded in 1999 and is headed by Dola Gregory, executive director. The organization serves Rockford’s at-risk children, ranging from 4- to 18-years-olds. Rock House Kids invites all to attend this free concert, but free-will offerings will be accepted.
