Online Staff Report
Cool off after work, and bring the kids for a night of fun at Rockford City Market. The City Market offers a little something for everyone; whether it’s freshly brewed Rockford beer or kids’ activities provided by local organizations.
If you’re heading to Rockford City Market this Friday, July 6, here’s what you can expect:
Empty Pockets — Empty Pockets will rock the market with their alternative, indie rock on their drum set and acoustic guitars. These talented Rockford-area musicians are like an all-original rock band that gets the blues, heads south and steps into a jumpin’ jazz joint.
The Discovery Center Museum — The Discovery Center Museum will be on hand blowing bubbles with children and educating them about surface tension and buoyancy.
Midway Village — Midway Village will be exploring the Victorian fascination of fairies by discussing fairy gardens, fairy lore and will be giving instructions for making your own fairy garden using natural materials.
Rockford City Market takes place every Friday through Oct. 12 along Water Street between State and Jefferson streets in downtown Rockford. It runs from 3 to 8 p.m. before Labor Day and 3 to 7 p.m. after Labor Day. The market includes local growers and vendors who sell natural products, including vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, cheeses, flowers, herbs, baked goods, wine and healthy snacks, as well as artisans and vendors with unique offerings and live entertainment by a variety of performers.
